Coming In Hot by AaronMiller Coming In Hot by AaronMiller
oil on panel

Painted during the Illustration Master Class held in Amherst, MA. Best class I've ever taken. Most fun I've had in the studio in a very long time.

Special thanks to the instructors:
Boris Vallejo, Julie Bell, Rebecca Guay, Donato Giancola, Dan DosSantos, Greg Machess, Scott Fischer, Irene Gallo and all the students.

Edit: Some digital color changes to really transform this piece into something, well.. better. Our heroine is now really the center of attention. --Thanks to Todd Lockwood for a great crit.

I like how the light from her weaponry really affects her and even strengthens the expression on her face. I feel like you need a counter balance to the strong yellow green tone though as many of your shadow areas blend together in almost the same tone. Maybe a second light source that isn't just white. The right leg also looks a little flat and seems to connect oddly to the pelvis because of the way the shadows fall.

Fan-friggin-tastic job! i love how the greenish yellow is tying the piece together and really drawing attention to your heroine - and the stance! She really looks as if she's wielding a heavy piece of equipment and kicking ass with it. Great job. i'm gonna look up this Master class you took, then strive to be a part of it one day. Great job!
